Frequently asked questions
What size is the Warren Hill linen play mat?
The Warren Hill quilted linen play mat is 115cm in diameter and round. It gives a baby room for tummy time and a crawling toddler room to move, and it sits in a nursery or living room without dominating the floor.
How thick is the linen play mat?
The mat is 880gsm in total: a 550gsm padded wadding quilted between two layers of 100% French flax linen. That is thick enough to cushion a baby's head during tummy time on floorboards or tiles, while still folding down to store.
What is the linen play mat made from?
100% French flax linen with a soft polyester fill. The flax is grown in France, then woven, cut, pre-washed and sewn by our socially-accredited manufacturing partners in China.
Is the play mat safe for a newborn?
Yes. The mat is certified to OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100, which means every component has been tested for harmful substances, and it is suitable from birth for supervised tummy time. As with any soft surface, babies should always sleep on a firm, flat sleep surface. A play mat is for play, not sleep.
Can you machine wash the linen play mat?
Yes. The whole mat goes in a domestic washing machine. Wash warm at 40 degrees with a mild detergent and line dry out of direct sunlight. There is no removable cover and no dry cleaning required. Washed French flax linen softens with each wash rather than pilling.
What age is the play mat suitable for?
From birth through the toddler years. Most families start with supervised tummy time in the first weeks, then keep using it through rolling, sitting, crawling and floor play.
What is the difference between the linen and cotton play mats?
The linen mat costs 164.95 AUD and is 100% French flax linen, which is more breathable, softens with each wash and has a textured natural finish. The quilted cotton mat costs 109.95 AUD and is smoother and more uniform in colour. Both are 115cm round, quilted, machine washable and OEKO-TEX certified.
Is a play mat a good baby shower gift?
A play mat is one of the few gifts a first-time parent is unlikely to already have and will not outgrow in a few months. It is used daily from the first weeks of tummy time through toddlerhood. At 164.95 AUD it also sits in the range where a gift is often pooled between several friends or a workplace.
How quickly does Warren Hill ship within Australia?
Orders are dispatched from Currumbin on the Gold Coast within 2 business days via Australia Post. Australian orders over 250 AUD ship free.
Why Warren Hill Play Mats?
Machine Washable
Our play mats are designed to be easily thrown in the wash, and being high quality Flax linen, they actually get softer with each wash. Simply wash on a warm wash (40°C) with a mild detergent and line dry out of direct sunlight and it'll come out as good as new (or better!)
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 Certified
The stone-washed linen we use is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, which means that the materials, dyes and finishes have been tested by independent textiles regulators and have been certified for maximum product safety, ensuring that each and every material component is free from any potentially harmful chemicals or processes.
Your most used baby item
It starts out life as a baby play mat, but will become a staple part of your home decor for years to come. Our play mats are designed to look beautiful in your home and will be used as blankets to snuggle under (by children and parents!) while watching movies, or used as a convenient outdoor blanket at picnics, and is intended to be passed down to new little sisters or brothers.
Absorbant & Hypoallergenic
As well as being wonderfully soft, linen is naturally hypoallergenic, extremely durable, and one of the most sustainable materials to harvest and produce in the textiles industry. Being very absorbent, our play mats are perfect for dribbly babies as the excess moisture is absorbed into the mat instead of your little one rolling around in it.
Fast Delivery
Your order will typically be posted within 1-2 business days from Currumbin on the Gold Coast, so you can be getting your nursery ready for your little ones arrival before you know it.
